BTEC Science is a flexible and stimulating course which is designed to reflect individual interests and career aspirations.
The course consists of units covering topics across Physics, Chemistry and Biology and there is an emphasis on practical investigative work.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To study at Cowley Sixth Form College, you must have achieved a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent, graded 9 – 4, across four separate subjects, including GCSE Mathematics and English Language.
In addition, a grade 4 – 4 is required in Combined Science.
You will enjoy a wide range of learning experiences, including many practicals which include using a wide variety of scientific skill and techniques.
One practical involves producing a sample of aspirin, purifying it and testing its purity using melting point apparatus.
There is a combination of coursework and external examinations.
Past students have gone to study science degrees, nursing, biomedical sciences and allied health courses.
