Students at Cowley Sixth Form College are celebrating their A-Level and BTEC results today, with 50% of students achieving high grades – A, A or B, or the equivalent.
But for Cowley, Results Day is about much more than grades. It is a celebration of the achievements, personal growth and next steps of a diverse group of young people who are now ready to take on their futures.
Among this year’s cohort is a student who is taking up an exciting opportunity to do Climate Studies at Vanderbilt University in USA following their time at Cowley. The prestigious university is one of the leading institutions in the United States, making this an outstanding example of the ambition and opportunities that Cowley students can achieve.
Other students are progressing to universities across the UK, but university is just one of the many destinations being celebrated at Cowley today.
Students are also moving into apprenticeships, providing them with the opportunity to combine further study with valuable workplace experience. Among the exciting apprenticeship destinations is the North West Ambulance Service, where a Cowley student is progressing into a career as an Emergency Medical Technician.
Other students are heading directly into employment, beginning their professional careers and putting the knowledge, skills and experiences developed during their time at Cowley into practice.
The breadth of these destinations reflects Cowley Sixth Form’s commitment to its vision of Developing Life Ready Learners, young people who are prepared not simply to achieve academically, but to succeed as confident, resilient, independent and well-rounded individuals.
Head of Sixth Form, Danny Watkins, said: “Results Day is always a very special occasion and we are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved.
“To have 50% of our students achieve high grades is a fantastic accomplishment and is testament to their hard work, commitment and determination. However, at Cowley, we believe that success is about much more than exam results.
“Our ambition is to develop life ready learners. Young people who leave us with the knowledge, skills, confidence and experiences they need to succeed in the next stage of their lives.
“This year’s destinations really demonstrate what that means in practice. We have students progressing to university, including an incredibly exciting opportunity at Vanderbilt University in the USA.
“We are equally proud of those progressing into apprenticeships, including an opportunity with North West Ambulance Service, and those who are heading directly into employment. There is no single definition of success, and every student has their own ambitions and their own pathway.
“Whatever our students choose to do next, we know they are leaving Cowley as young people who are ready to take on the opportunities and challenges ahead of them.
“We wish every member of our Class of 2026 the very best for the future. They have made us incredibly proud.”
Throughout their time at Cowley, students have been encouraged to look beyond their academic studies and develop the wider skills needed for life after sixth form. Careers and progression opportunities, enrichment, work experience, personal development and the support of staff all contribute to helping students make informed decisions about their futures.
From a university in the United States to apprenticeships with major organisations, and from higher education to the workplace, Cowley’s Class of 2026 are now embarking on an exciting range of journeys.
Congratulations to the Cowley Sixth Form College Class of 2026! We are incredibly proud of you!
